Maybe there's one and I can't find it yet. I mean it's really cool at first to have the neato animation and the reels constantly spinning, but honestly, after the initial "Ta-da!" moment or two when you open the plug and start using it, a button for a "small view" would be nice. My only criticism of the plug is the huge amount of pixel real-estate it takes up. I also think although I can hear a difference, I'm wishing now I had better room to really pick up on the subtleties. I don't have $350 sitting around for this either. My experience was just being in bands that would record in the studio and I remember we'd go buy ourselves our own reel of 456 or later 499 to bring in.
15 minutes worth of recording at 30ips! LOL
Probably will never use what's on that reel either. Hopefully 499 was made better than some of the old 456 where the oxide would just come right off the backing after years. In fact I feel stupid because I just looked over and not six feet from me on the bottom shelf of a bookshelf in my studio I have a 2" reel of 499 from a very old project.
